6:15-6:35 – Principal’s Report
- School Safety
- Plans are in place and are being strengthened
- Extra watchful at dismissal time
- First lockdown drill will be next week, Wednesday
- Parents will be notified this week
- Pete will give a brief explanation about the drill and how it should work
- Families can discuss as they feel appropriate
- There are other drills in the year, but they are more refreshers – this is an actual drill
- You can opt-out if you wish
- The district also emailed info out
- The teachers stress to the kids that drills are done to practice but look to minimize student stress
- Referendum
- Board has approved – voted on November 4th
- Team will be discussing how to message to families
- 500K home will pay $23 a month if referendum passes
- Jonathan does an excellent job of personalizing experiences, special ed, social, emotional, etc. all of which are funded through school budgets
- Class sizes could be impacted
- Kindergarten para support is impacted
- We went into cost containment this year
- If referendum doesn’t pass, we will have a 7-million-dollar deficit
- This would help manage class sizes
- This would also let us make the GT teacher full-time
